Steeton AFC

Steeton 1 Settle 6

Thu 14 Aug 2014

Steeton crashed to a heavy defeat against Settle last night, despite the visitors boosting their ranks with a few Barnoldswick players, the home side were poor in the first half and in truth created very little to trouble Sam Arrowsmith in the Settle goal. At the back the marking from set pieces was woeful and debutant keeper Sean Cullen was left exposed on numerous occasions, Cullen had a night to forget as he conceeded a late penalty as half time approached and the Craven side found themselves 6-0 up at the break.

A half time rocket saw Steeton come out with a much better frame of mind and attitude and second half keeper, Josh Brooksbank had little to do in the second period, bar a great one handed save in the closing minutes.

Josh Metcalfe continued his good pre season form with a well taken goal.

Roy Mason will be now looking for a response from the players in the final pre season game on Friday when Steeton entertain Skipton LMS. Kick off is 6.30pm

IlkleyTown 0 Steeton 6

Sun 10 Aug 2014

Steeton romped to a 6-0 win over West Yorkshire side Ilkely Town yesterday.

Lee Reilly struck a first half hat trick and Josh Metcalfe and Danny Driver saw The Chevron's race into a 5-0 half time lead.

Metcalfe added a sixth later on in the game.

Steeton fielded Danny Thorpe in goal and he was rarely troubled as the home side didn't cause too many problems for Steeton's rear guard. Joe Park also featured in the second period following a spell away from the club.

This week see's two games with Settle United being the visitors to Summerhill Lane on Wednesday and Skipton LMS on Friday. Both games kick off at 6.30 and there again will be a couple of new faces playing in the last two pre season games before the season starts.
