Last week saw another big test for Roy Mason and his Steeton side as they played two games in the space of three days.

The visit of Cleator Moor to Cougar Park on Wednesday evening saw Steeton fall to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Cumbrian side whilst Friday evening's encounter with AFC Liverpool ended in a 3-3 draw.

The Chevrons looked on course for victory in Merseyside as they responded from going a goal down to taking a 3-1 lead thanks to a brace from Aaron Hollindrake and a goal from Andy Briggs however with little over 10 minutes remaining the home side pulled a goal back before grabbing a last gasp equaliser in the third minute of stoppage time to ensure the game ended even.

Steeton Manager Roy Mason gave his thoughts on last weeks games to On The Pitch: "Despite the results I have been pleased with the performances, the players have given me everything and that's all I can ask for. Against Cleator Moor we didn't take our chances when we had them and were made to pay when they capitalised on a mistake in our own area.

"Liverpool was always going to be tough as we only had 24 hours rest and we had players struggling to get over to Liverpool from work and a couple only just arrived before kick off following a crash on the M62.

"We had a game plan for Liverpool and we really pushed them hard and at 3-1 I'd have liked us to have seen out the game. However a fantastic strike brought them back into it and in injury time they managed to pull level.

"The players were dead on their feet and absolutely gutted that we didn't get the three points, but after an abject performance at Maine Road we were much better in the last two games and the points yielded don't reflect our efforts," said the Steeton Manager.

The Chevrons find themselves sitting in 10th place in the division after last weeks games and will be keen to get back to winning ways when second place Carlisle City visit Cougar Park on Saturday afternoon.
