Steeton had to settle for a share of the points yesterday after a 3-3 draw with Ashton Town in the North West Counties Football League First Division North.

The Chevrons made a great start to the game when Ben Clarkson put them ahead after just six minutes in front of the 67 spectators at Cougar Park.

However, the visitors hit back seven minutes before the break thanks to a goal from Luke Edwards.

On 68 minutes Ashton went 2-1 ahead courtesy of a strike from James Sigsworth but Steeton drew level seven minutes later through an Andy Briggs goal.

Moments after the equaliser Steeton managed to take the lead as Toby Jeffrey made it 3-2.

However, it wasn't to be as Ashton drew level through an Antony Shinks penalty on 82 minutes meaning the game finished all square.

The result sees The Chevrons stay 12th in the division on 35 points.

After the game, Steeton Manager Roy Mason said: "It was another hard fought point, overall on the balance of play I felt that a draw was a fair result. The commitment the players showed was superb and we had a few heavy legs after Wednesday night and our passing game wasn’t as fluid as I’d have liked.

"That said we are unbeaten in our last three games and we are slowly picking up points as we look to secure a top half finish."

He added: "We’ve a small squad and yesterday was our 32nd game of the season which is more than we played in the whole of last season."

Steeton are next in action on Saturday when they welcome Prestwich Heys to Cougar Park.
