A highly touted and talented young centre half, Alfie Gibbon arrived at Marley in October 2023 from Yorskhire Amateur.

Coming through the academy system at The Shay with FC Halifax Town, Gibbon impressed throughout the youth ranks at the Shaymen.

He was eventually awarded with his first team debut in a West Riding County Cup tie against Albion Sports at the beginning of last season.

Looking for more open-age and first team experience, Alfie would move to Yorkshire Amateur in November of last year on dual-registration.

Cementing himself as a first-team regular with the Ammies, where Louis Fialdini was amongst his teammates, the step up benefitted the youngster as the season progressed.

Despite the side's struggles ending in relegation from the NCEL Premier Division in March, he opted to make his move to the Southerns Stadium permanent over the summer after his release from Halifax.

The Ammers though started life at Step 6 poorly this season and a change of manager in late August brought with it a new influx of players which saw opportunities restricted for Alfie.

And his search for regular first team football came to an end as Roy moved quickly to secure the services of 'Gibbo' once he became aware of his availability.
