Initially arriving on a youth loan in January 2023, towering striker Josh Coe would make the permanent move to Steeton ahead of the 2023/24 season.The young and upcoming forward has made his stay at Marley a permanent one over the summer of 2023, joining from Bradford Park Avenue after a successful loan spell during the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.
Scoring his first professional goal away at Euxton Villa in April 2023, which proved to be the winner that particular evening, it is a deal that manager Roy Mason played the waiting game to get the deal over the line.
Standing at six feet and five inches tall, the forward who turned 18 years old in the summer of 2023 offers a youthful but towering presence up top for the Chevvies.
‘Coey’ joined the academy set-up at Bradford Park Avenue at the age of 16 where he has been managed and developed by the current Frickley and former Thackley manager Patrick McGuire at the Horsfall Stadium.
Previously featuring for Thackley on a youth loan under McGuire, a number of impressive goalscoring performances for the academy side at Avenue led to the Bradford club looking to give Josh regular gametime.
As a result he arrived at Steeton in January on loan for the remainder of the last campaign.
Featuring of the substitutes bench more often than starting, the young forward would bide his time to become more of a regular in green and white.
And his patience was rewarded towards the end of last season with his first professional goal to secure a vital win and three points away from home at Euxton Villa.
Graduating from the academy set-up at Bradford Park Avenue over the summer, Coe would trial with the first team at the Horsfall during pre-season that summer.
However, with opportunities limited at the Avenue, Josh made the decision to depart the club in order to sign with Steeton on a permanent basis.
Making an impact with a goalscoring performance at Squires Gate that pre-season, he settled quickly into his role as a target man with 4 goals in the opening month of the new campaign.
