Biography

Towering centre half James Edgley made the switch to Steeton ahead of the 2023/24 season.

After initially training as part of a youth loan the previous campaign from Bradford City, the Bantams second year scholar would join the Chevvies once more on a deal similar to that of teammate Jack Lynn two years previous.

A product of the academy system at Woodhouse Grove, James has spent the three seasons with the Bantams after being signed by the club in January of 2020.

Coming through the ranks alongside players such as Bobby Pointon, the defender helped Bradford City under-18’s side reach the Third Round of the FA Youth Cup last season where they would be eventually defeated away from home by Chelsea.

Despite being an unused sub that evening in January, he would continue to feature for the young City side until the conclusion of last season.

Reporting to Steeton training at the beginning of pre-season in late June, James became a regular feature during our busy friendly schedule throughout July.

Growing with each game, whilst beginning to form a blossoming centre-half partnership alongside skipper Josh Kaine, he would continue to be a standout performer heading into the new season.

Now a permanent member of the Chevvies squad, Edgley is looking forward to the challenges the North West Counties Football League and open age men’s football will present him.

James is kindly sponsored for the 2023/24 season by Phil Robinson.
