Biography

Entering his first full season as a Chevvie, exciting forward Arale Mohamed is looking to hit the ground running once more in 2023/24.

The lightning forward, also comfortable out on the wing, joined part way into last season from Silsden and contributed 11 goals in just 16 appearances despite missing three months of the season with a leg break suffered in early December.

Born in Somalia, Arale moved to London as a child and his football ability was quickly noticed by a number of clubs within the capital and further afield.

Representing Queens Park Rangers, Southampton, Norwich City, and Brentford, as a schoolboy, he would go onto sign his first professional terms with Barnet.

Moving into the academy at The Hive on a scholarship deal, Mohamed would be a regular goalscorer for the young Bees before departing at the end of the 2017/18 season.

Signing with Hanworth Villa after leaving Barnet, his performances for the club would also see him earn international recognition with the Barawa national side who represent players of Somali diaspora in England.

Heading north to continue with his studies away from the game, Arale found his feet in the West Yorkshire League with Athletico.

Leading the line for the club, the attacking player scored 16 goals in the 2021/22 season and in the process caught the attention of Silsden.

Despite a bright start to life in Cobbydale, chances would soon become limited and Mohamed headed across the roundabout to sign with the Chevrons in early November.

Making an immediate impact with two goals from the substitutes bench to defeat Bacup Borough, he would continue to hit the ground running at Marley.

Suffering a break to a bone in his leg in December’s home defeat to Atherton LR, Arale picked up where he left off on his return from injury with a goal against Nelson.

Contributing with key goals whilst linking up superbly with Andy Briggs during the run-in, the April Player of the Month award was just rewards for his form post-injury.

However, with Briggs now at Bury, the forward knows his goalscoring form could prove pivotal to both his and the team’s aspirations this season.
