Joining the club in October 2023 from Thackley, Ben McCready added much needed experience and leadership to the Chevvies dressing room and defensive line.

Originating from down south, Ben came through the youth system at League Two outfit Swindon Town.

Following his release from the County Ground, the full back would feature for a number of prominent non-league clubs around the Wiltshire area.

Spells with Chippenham Town, Thatcham Town, Burnham, Abingdon United, and finally Hungerford Town in the National League South, would come after his time with the Robins ended before McCready relocated up north.

Signing with Eccleshill United after moving into the Bradford area, McCready would spend two seasons with Eccy before making the move across West Yorkshire to sign with Shelley.

His stay with Shelley though would be brief as the Covid-19 pandemic forced the club to resign from the North West Counties Football League and as a result, Ben became a free agent.

Following the pandemic, Ben signed with Albion Sports and became a prominent feature in the side offering an option both in defence and pushing forward in attack.

Performances for Albion would continue to catch the eye over the next two seasons and with it brought a move to Dennyfield and Thackley.

Comfortable either at right back or left back, McCready would again become a regular feature in the side under Danny Forrest after joining over the Christmas period last season.

However, seeking a new challenge in the twilight years of his career, he has made the decision to join Steeton much to the delight of Roy.
