Now a mainstay of the Steeton side, Josh McKiernon is entering his fifth season as a Chevvie.Arriving during the 2019/20 campaign, prior to the Covid shutdown, from local rivals Silsden, the midfielder affectionally known as ‘Pink Gin’ is one of Roy Mason’s go to man.
Providing the side with a combination of aggression and individual style, his eye for the spectacular whilst playing on the edge gives Roy Mason a different option in the middle of the park.
A product of the schoolboy system at Guiseley, Josh would depart Nethermoor to sign with Albion Sports before moving on to Silsden.
Upon arrival in Cobbydale, he would become a regular in the side under the management of Danny Forrest and played a key role in the Silsden side that would earn promotion by winning the NWCFL First Division North with a record points haul.
Following promotion, Silsden would move to the NCEL and McKiernon continued to feature regularly.
However, following the pandemic, gametime became limited and the midfielder made the move across the roundabout to sign with Steeton.
Breaking into the side following the restart, Josh quickly made himself one of the first names on the teamsheet after a goalscoring Man of the Match performance in defeat to Bury.
Later that season he would begin to show his eye for the spectacular with a sensational goal in a victory away from home against Daisy Hill as well as contributing with a number of assists.
Continuing as a lynchpin within the side last season, McKiernon impressed throughout and stepped up on the big occasion with vital goals in derby victories over both Silsden and Ilkley Town.
Maturing as a player and forming a formidable midfield partnership with Mo Farhan Subhani over the last two seasons, he feels that he can continue to help both himself and the club grow moving into this year.
